The Covid-19 pandemic affected our work, causing us to pause and understand that everyone was dealing with their own realities in terms of getting by.  However, we never stopped following up on how the pandemic evolved and how it affected people. In Ecuador, like in the rest of the world, everything shut down. The effects of the pandemic only added to the problems of those families that live in extreme poverty and have still not recovered from the devastating earthquake of 2016. During this time of pause and reflection, our Board of Directors continued working on ways to raise the needed funding for a house for Doña Carmen. Persistence paid off, and last week, we got a single donation that is big enough to cover the amount needed to complete Doña Carmen's house.  Today, November 29th, we have engineers inspecting Doña Carmen's property to identify any pre-work that to be done. We are so close to making this family's dream come true!
